Why iPhone still use LCD on iPhone?

Liquid crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel technology used in smartphones, laptops, digital cameras, flat-screen displays, and calculators. LCD on iPhone comes with many advantages, including low power consumption, low radiation, and its small size. Even though the iPhone has adapted the use of OLED on the iPhone screen in its recent models, LCD still has its benefits.
So, weighing at every angle, why iPhone still use LCD on iPhone? There can be multiple reasons.

  • To meet quality and consistency requirements
  • LCDs are cheaper to produce
  • Increased market demand for budget phones

LCDs are made of two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid crystal solution layer between them using a reflector or backlight to produce images in monochrome or color. Since LCD is categorized into TFT and IPS LCD, they are popularly used in mid-level and above phone types.
Let’s look at the two components of an LCD on an iPhone that makes it work

Pixels:
Pixels determine the colors that appear on the screen. Each pixel has subpixels; red, green, and blue. Each sub-pixel changes in intensity, making a combination of colors, thus creating the images viewed when scrolling through photos, Instagram, YouTube videos, and much more.

Backlight:
This is the second component of LCDs. A backlight is a panel sitting behind the pixels and shining light through them. That’s why you can view anything on the screen. Once the display brightness is altered or changed, you’ll control the backlight that covers the entire display.

Why choose LCD for your iPhone

LCD on iPhone is a guarantee of stronger usability and stability. If you’re considering OEM LCDs for phones after the original screen breaks, then you have every reason to go for LCDs;

  • LCDs are easy to manufacture, making them relatively cheaper
